Upturn, a scaling financial advisory firm in Bangladesh, is seeking a talented Database Engineer to join our team. As a Database Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our company's database systems to support our data-driven decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management, data modeling, and SQL development, with a keen understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the Bangladesh business landscape.
Job responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain database systems to meet the specific data storage and retrieval needs of Upturn's operations in Bangladesh.
- Perform database tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting to ensure maximum performance and reliability in a local context.
- Implement robust data security measures and access controls to safeguard sensitive information in compliance with local regulations.
- Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and structures tailored to the needs of Bangladesh's financial industry and regulatory environment.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to design and implement database solutions that align with local business requirements and industry standards.
- Monitor database performance and capacity, proactively identifying and addressing issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to mitigate the risk of data loss and ensure business continuity.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in database management and data engineering relevant to the Bangladesh market.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field from a reputable institution in Bangladesh.
- Proven experience as a Database Engineer or similar role, with a strong understanding of database concepts and principles applicable to the local context.
- Proficiency in database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL Server, with a focus on optimizing performance in Bangladesh's infrastructure environment.
- Experience with database design, normalization, and optimization techniques tailored to the specific needs of Bangladesh's financial sector.
- Proficiency in SQL programming and query optimization, with an understanding of local language support and character encoding issues.
- Familiarity with cloud-based database services such as Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL, or Microsoft Azure SQL Database, considering Bangladesh's evolving cloud infrastructure landscape.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in a local context.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with proficiency in English and Bengali, enabling effective interaction with local and international stakeholders.
- Experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data technologies relevant to Bangladesh's financial industry is a plus.
